I know, but I still cling my assertion that most of what is regarded as "horror" pre-talkie is occasionally macabre melodrama and mystery with the seeds of what we would eventually call horror.

There is hardly any spoken dialogue in VAMPYR; de Gunzberg's role basically requires him to be an observer, more specifically a voyeur of strange, supernatural events which may or may not be real....
